SICILY. Leontini. Circa 430-425 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.50 g, 6 h). Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. ΛE-O-N-TI-N-ON Head of a roaring lion with open jaws to left; around, three barley grains; to right, laurel leaf. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte, 55 (same dies). SNG ANS 257 (same dies). A bold and attractive coin. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, about extremely fine.
